The advantages of HDI in PCB circuits

图片
With the increasing demand for the advanced devices and, HDI (High-Density Interconnects) is concept widely applied in the pcb printed circuit boards . And now, HDI technology is incorporated into the basic fabrication of the PCB itself and the connections to the components. With such interconnects, what can it bring for us? Let us talk about the advantages of the HDI in PCB circuits. The obvious advantage is that HDI technology can guarantee the smaller size and lighter weight, which means that the pcb circuit boards fit into smaller spaces and have less mass than conventional printed circuit designs. The smaller size and weight also contributes to less chance of damage from mechanical shocks. Secondly, HDI benefits signal integrity in the pcb circuit boards. With new electronic components such as ball grid arrays and chip-scale packaging achieving widespread use, designers are creating PCBs with new fabrication technologies to accommodate parts with very ...

Application of ultraviolet laser processing in PCB manufacturing

图片
For laser cutting or drilling in the circuit board industry, only a few or more watts of ultraviolet (UV) laser can be needed. In the application of consumer electronic products, auto mobile industry or robot manufacturing technology, the use of flexible circuit boards become increasingly important. With the advantages of flexibility and high-precision processing effect, UV laser processing system has become the first choice for flexible circuit board and thin PCB laser drilling and cutting. Figure 1: cutting slots by CO2 laser (left) VS UV laser (right). The thermal effect of UV laser is small, and the cutting edge is clean and tidy. UV laser is especially suitable for cutting and marking of rigid pcb board , rigid-flex pcb boards and the auxiliary materials. So what are the advantages of this laser process? The UV laser cutting system shows great technical advantages in the areas such as the board divider of SMT industry and the micro-drill of PCB indus...

The different manufacturing process for FPC

The fabrication process of flexible printed circuit board (common types of FPC ) is basically similar to that of rigid pcb board . But for some operations, the flexibility of the laminate requires a different device and a completely different treatment. Most FPC uses negative methods. However, there are some difficulties in the mechanical processing and the coaxial processing of flexible lamination. The main problem is the material pre-process treatment. Flexible materials are coils of different widths, so the transfer of flexible laminates requires the use of rigid br ackets during etching. Besides, the processing and cleaning of flexible printed circuits is more important than that of rigid plates (Lexin, 1993). Incorrect cleaning or improper operation may lead to failure in product manufacturing, due to the sensitivity of flex materials. For the regular single-sided flex board, it should be cleaned at least 3 times while 3 to 6 times for the multilayer flex...

Choosing your right flexible circuit supplier from China

图片
Flex circuit suppliers come in a variety of different sizes and stages of financial integrity. Choosing the one that will perform the best for your requirements is an important element to the success of you application. When you are interviewing perspective flexible circuit supplier it is important to keep the following points in mind: 1.Design Support Available Exceptional design support is critical to the success of a project utilizing flex circuits in their products. The extent of the design support required can range from initial concept review to final data set Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review. 2.Capabilities (applications, designs, volume, engineering, and fabrication) Do they have the right equipment and the required knowledge to meet your flex board fabrication requirements on a routine basis? The fabrication process is quite detailed; will they be able to meet every detail you need every time you need it? That is a quiet important to ...

Advantages and disadvantages of the Multi-layer pcb boards

图片
Before designing a printed circuit board, you need to decide whether you'll use a single-layer or multi-layer PCB . Usually the complex devices typically use multi-layer boards, while simpler ones can benefit from single-layer. This blog is going to explain the advantages and disadvantages of the multilayer boards. As we all know, Multi-layer PCBs are made of three or more double-sided boards stacked on top of each other. Theoretically, they can contain as many boards as you can need, but this should be on the base of the capability of a factory. For Fast Turn PCB , we can make up to 36 layers for the rigid pcb prototype. With the following advantages, multi-layer pcb stands ahead in the pcb industry: 1.Applied in more advanced devices For the projects involves more circuits and components, multi-layer board ensures there is ample room for connections, making it ideal for more advanced devices with many different uses and advanced capabilities. 2.Increased...

EchoStar's Les Beller Shares the PCB Design-to-Fab Process

Recently, I had the opportunity to meet and interview Les Beller of EchoStar Technologies. Beller’s career began in the early 1980s as a circuit board designer, eventually leading him to EchoStar, where he has managed the PWB ( Printed wiring board ) design group and spent time as a PCB quality engineer. He is now a manufacturing process engineer specializing in DFx. In this interview, Beller focuses on the many challenges printed circuit board designers face, strategies for bridging the gap between circuit design and fabrication, and the future of circuit designers. Barry Matties : Les, tell us about your history in the circuit board industry. How did you get started? Les Beller : I began by hand-drafting schematics and then went into tape and Mylar. That was in 1982 or so, when I was 18. That led into AutoCAD-based software tools for circuit board design and working for design agencies. I ended up selling Layout and fab work in a small prototype board shop using t...

What industries are promoting FPC development?

图片
Flexible Printed Circuit ( FPC ) is a highly flexible and excellent flexible printed circuit board made of polyimide or polyester film. High wiring density, light weight, thin thickness and good bending properties. At present, FPC products mainly pass through the display module, touch module, fingerprint recognition module into the smart phones, tablet PCs and other consumer goods market terminal.   At the same time, all kinds of electronic products display also makes FPC with small and medium-sized LCD screen and touch screen into a broader application space.  FPC has been widely used in automotive ECU as connector components in recent years due to its flexibility and small size, such as display, audio, display and other equipment with high signal transmission and high reliability. FPC has the characteristics of light and flexible, and the highest fit with wearable devices, is the preferred Raw material for wearable devices.  Emerging con...

Six Mistakes beginner pcb designers make

图片
SIX MISTAKES BEGINNER PCB DESIGNERS MAKE 1. Over-Complicating Design Beginner designers can often make mistakes as a result of not knowing the chemistry and processes behind PCB fabrication services . Often, this will involve making the design far more complicated than it needs to be. Designers need to stop and think about the actual effectiveness of their design; just because it works on paper, this doesn’t mean that it’s the easiest or most economic method. 2. Don’t Skip the Schematic Beginner designers can often be tempted to skip the schematic step out on their simplest circuit board designs. This is not a step that should be skipped! If there’s a mistake in your circuit design, a properly drawn schematic can help you determine what’s gone wrong and help you see how to correct this mistake. 3. Don’t rely on the Autorouter You should still understand how to route traces yourself with your own hand. Autorouters are very useful tools, they should never be treated as...

Flexible Vs Rigid pcb

FLEXIBLE VS. RIGID PCB’S Flexible PCBs Also known as flex circuits or flex boards, the use of flexible PCBs is growing in electronic manufacture as devices get more compact and less standard shapes are used in product design. *When to Use Flexible Circuit Boards: Flexible circuits come into their own when it comes to manufacturing where weight and space is a major consideration. Thin and lightweight flexible circuit boards are the ideal choice when you are looking for wiring capability in spaces where the more traditional rigid boards can’t fit making them ideal for compact devices such as smart wearable’s, mobile phones and cameras. As well as this due to their composition, flexible circuit boards have better resistance to high temperatures with a material which dissipates heat and also has resistance to shock and vibrations. Rigid PCBs Found in the majority of electronic manufacturing, rigid PCBs are essentially the traditional board of the world of pr...
